So this is the first post in an incredibly long time.
Well, for a very good reason.
Judge by the Cover (Second Edition)
For starters, you can expect the second edition for book one to be out soon, complete with a brand new cover! I won't do some big, dramatic cover reveal for it, it will just simply exist. Expect a follow-up post on that and also a little blurb about what makes the second edition so different from the first.
BOOK TWO BOOK TWO BOOK TWO has been well on its way towards development and that's where all the focus has been lately. As you can see the website has undergone dramatic changes to reflect the awesome new book as well as new book cover. HOPE YOU LIKE!
Added a Soundcloud too. It's basically BOOK TWO inspiration music.
NOVEMBER 4, 2017
Mark the date, people. This is the release date for the e-book version for Two Halves Whole (AKA. BOOK TWO). There will be a limited edition pre-release paperback with a *special* limited edition cover. How can you get that special edition book? Well... stay tuned.
The official paperback should be released some time in November (available first on Amazon.com).
DID SOMEBODY SAY GIVEAWAYS?
No. Nobody did. But there will definitely be a Goodreads giveaways coming soon. So keep posted.
And yes. You read that correctly. Giveaway with an "s." ;)
Yo. The name’s Tyler Kyojo. Some call me White Tiger.
They say I’m one of the many “bad guys” in Judge by the Cover: High School, Drama & Deadly Vices, the first book in the Hafu Sans Halo series.
Who am I?
Let’s just say I put the “deadly” in “Deadly Vices.”
Am I truly a bad guy? I guess I must be cause one of the main characters loathes me. I won’t say his name. This interview is about me, right? Besides, everyone knows *I* should be the star of this show.
Anyway, let's do this. :)
Q: Would you want to hang out with your author?
That’s not the question. The question you want to ask is if she would want to hang out with me. Judging from the way she’s frantically shaking her head and sweating profusely, the answer looks like a resounding no.
Q: Do you have any birthmarks?
Yeah. I have an interesting one but I’d rather not tell you where it is or what it looks like. ;)
Q: When spring cleaning what is easy for you to throw out? What is difficult to part with?
I’d throw out all my roommate’s stuff. I love my Ed Hardy stuff. My Metallica CD—I get that no one uses CDs anymore but I’d never give those up. *Begins slow head-banging and humming Devil's Dance*
Q: What is in your fridge right now?
Judging from the smell seeping in from the kitchen, probably something gross one of my brothers made three days ago.
Q: How do you react when angry?
It depends. You know why I got the nickname “Tiger?” I bide my time. I pounce when no one expects it and then, guess what? I’m a total savage.
Q: Which talent would you most like to have? Did the author give you this talent or withhold it from you?
I’m a born talent. I learned kobudo. I trained with sais. You know the knives Raphael from Ninja Turtles uses? I’m pretty good with those.
Q: What is the trait you most deplore in others?
I think most people are just so weak. They care too much. Cry too much. Fear too much. I wouldn’t say there’s a trait that I dislike. I dislike people generally.
Q: When do you first appear in the story?
Now get this. Chapter 5. Crazy, right? For someone who should be the star to appear halfway through the book—I’d say something, but you’d probably have to censor it.
Q: What do you do for a living?
Hm. Well, I’m a high school student but I’m a recruit for the White Flower Syndicate. What I do for them is none of your business.
Q: If they turned the book into a movie, who would be cast to play you?
There’s this Japanese singer, Kazuki from Doberman Infinity. He’s not an actor or martial artist but he’s a cool and handsome guy. Not as handsome as me though. I can’t blame him. It’s pretty difficult to measure up to perfection.
Q: If aliens suddenly appeared in the middle of the story, how does your role change?
Are the aliens at war with us and are they winning? If so, I’m on their team. Peace out, Earthlings!
Q: What is your current state of mind?
The author says straight-up delusional but I’m pretty sure my mind is top-notch. Like, a whole other level of genius, basically. Let the haters hate.
Q: What was your childhood like?
I’m an orphan so you can just guess. It wasn’t much of a loss since my parents were useless. Maybe I lucked out? I left Japan when I was five, moved to Canada and since then I’ve always lived with a bunch of idiot kids. I’m okay with it as long as they stay outta my way.
But I’m only 17.
I’m still a kid — or whatever — until I turn 18. Just you wait and see what happens then. Cause I am the champion and you’re going to hear me ROAR.
I know what you’re thinking. “Tyler listens to Katy Perry”— uh, no I don’t.
*Pulls out cellphone. Begins to play Roar but it sounds… very metal.*

I started off only really using it for storyboarding and organizing my reference pictures. But I've decided, "Hey. Why not share this?"
So I've made it more public for anyone curious about where I draw my inspiration for scenery, character development etc. Or even if you're a writer yourself, I do have boards with writing tips and prompts.
You can check it out and follow by boards here:
I come from a tradition of making & admiring fanart.
For example, here's a random doodle I did back in 2003 of a cute Hagrid (from the Harry Potter series — as if I needed tell you that).
Now it seems my time has come and my self-proclaimed biggest fan/bestie, Rachie, has drawn a particularly cute picture of Haruna Mitsukai (Judge by the Cover).
So I thought I'd share with everyone!
CUTE RIGHT!? Well, I've started up a little corner on this page where I will put more as they come.
I'm just happy that my stories and characters can inspire anyone at all to want to draw them.
Maybe some day... fanfiction?
One can only dream.
Three of the characters from Judge by the Cover have been featured on fellow author Ember Winters' blog for quite an "interesting" little interview.
Here's an excerpt:
Ember: Hi—okay, sorry before I start this interview, I really must ask. Why are there three of you?
Oh, hi. My name is Tracy. I’m just here to be the buffer between those two. *points at a boy and a girl glaring at each other with crossed arms*
Ember: But why do they need--
Trust me. They need a buffer.
Ember: Oh. Okay then. Well, thank you so much for joining us today. Please introduce yourself!
The Girl: I’ll start. I’m Haruna Mitsukai. I’m 17 years old and I’m the main character of the story. I’m a student in my final year at Shady Glenn Private Academy. I’m Head Girl (which is kind of like student president at regular schools) and I’m aiming to be valedictorian. One of my main goals is getting into the University of--
The Boy: She just asked who you are, not for your life story.
Haruna: Shut up! Why are you even here?
Tracy: Stop it, you guys. *gives a deep sigh* This guy over here is Ryu Debiru. He’s the story antagonist.
Ryu: Antagonist? I’m the main character in this story too!
Haruna: But why? That’s what I’d like to know.
Tracy: Yeesh. I’ll take over from here. *looks over with a smile* I’m Tracy Hasan and I’m one of Haruna’s best friends. I also go to the Academy. Ryu does too.
Ember: Let’s step back for a moment. What is your story about?
Tracy: So the book is called Judge by the Cover which is part of the Hafu Sans Halo series. It’s a YA/New Adult series.
Haruna: And the first book is about this assignment we have to work on for our English class. And it’s a major assignment—like super important. But naturally, it’s impossible to get anything done with this guy.
Ryu: I’d gouge my own eye out with this icepick before spending five minutes with her to be honest.
Tracy: Ahem. Just to be clear, no eyes were lost in the making of this book.
Haruna: Am I the only one wondering why he randomly carries around an icepick?
Ember: Wait, I’m curious about something else. What does “Hafu Sans Halo” mean?
Ryu: Well, “hafu” is a word meaning “half.” We’re both half Japanese so I’m guessing that has something to do with it.
Haruna: You’d have to read the book and come to your own conclusions.
Wow. I guess being half Japanese means you have some things in common?
Haruna: No way!
Ryu: Not. At. All.
